Scooter Boy

We've just got back from spending the Easter long weekend in New Plymouth with Gran Maya and Grand-dad Ricky - one of the two North Island 'provincial centres' (the other being Gisborne) that had yet to feel the grace of my passing. In a phrase - I thought the place was really bloody nice. Very keen to return when the kids are a bit older, maybe to tick the Mt Taranaki summit off my bucket list.
I won't delve into the details of we did this and then we did that, and then we visited the such and such - not my style - and we probably didn't do that much anyway. Two interconnected things to mention though. The boardwalk is brilliant - simply one of the best pieces of developed public space in New Zealand. And Priya and me following Liam in the buggy as he mastered his shiny new scooter on a balmy evening was one of those long golden moments in parenting that gives you a mile wide smile .
And a third unrelated thing - I love a good power station but the hulk of the New Plymouth Power Station is visual pollution on a grand scale - Morro Bay in our own backyard. Hopefully Contact Energy will send in a demolition gang sometime soon.

Hey family
that's a great photo Joe - thanks for a nice weekend and time with you all.
We are impressed at how well Liam has taken to "scootering". Maybe it will be a skate board for christmas,
take it easy
