Off to Pre-school

After just under a year and a half hanging out with Saady our little boy is taking one of the big steps in his lifes path - he's off to daycare on Monday, and Saady is starting a six month contract here on the North Shore. Its a big challenge for all of us, but we know its the right thing for him and as a parent you have to accept that that is life and living - things don't stand still and your childrens needs are ever-changing. Liam needs and wants to spend time playing and socialising with other kids - and with less and less mothers staying home past their kiddies first birthday its has been getting harder for Saads to give him access to this without engaging in the political furore and working-bees of a playcentre. Not quite her cup of tea - and not mine either.

For Saads its going to be a tough few months because shes absolutely loved the year and a half that she has spent looking after little Liam. She's giving up something special - being a full time mum - something she has done the most amazing and inspiring job of it. For me its hard because even though I have been at work for 40 odd hours a week over that time I've know that he's in her care and the two of them are just a phone call away. For Liam it will be a bit of a challenge because his daily routines are going to change, and it will take him a little bit of time to get used to that. But we think he's going to love it, in the few times that Saads has taken him down to get to know the place he has gone bananas and pretty quickly forgotten that she is even there within a few minutes.

So here the big boy trying out his Buzzy-Bee bag for size and style this morning. Saads tells me that the first time she put it on his back he fell over backwards - it seems he's learning to compensate...
